I'm a Doctoral Student at Durham University!
For the past several years, I've been singing, writing, and speaking about the importance of seeing Jesus as King. I've also become increasingly vocal about matters of political and cultural concern in the United States and globally. What many of you may not have known is that the lordship of Jesus Christ (and our response to His lordship) has not only been the focus of my public ministry, but it has also animated my academic studies. Now, God has graced me with the opportunity to take this theological interest to the next level of inquiry as a Doctor of Theology and Ministry (DThM) student in one of the most prestigious departments of theology and religion in the world!

I am convinced that the times in which we live call for a Christian witness that is more deeply rooted in the person and work of Jesus Christ. It is true in all seasons, but it is particularly urgent in this season...we must fix our eyes on Jesus. As we do so, I believe that we will more greatly discern the societal and political implications of who He is and what He is doing. We cannot divorce Christ's lordship from our liberation!

My Educational Journey (Thus Far)
2012-2016
Morehouse College
Atlanta, GA
Morehouse changed my life! I was inspired on a daily basis to walk the same halls as the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Mayor Maynard Jackson, and many other giants. Just as importantly, I connected with brothers who have become my closest friends even to this day. I graduated from Morehouse with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
2020-2022
Fuller Seminary
Pasadena, CA
While at Fuller, my academic and social calling was clarified. I began studies there thinking that I was preparing for pastoring as a lifelong calling. By the time I finished at Fuller, I discerned God calling me to the intersection of theology and politics (broadly defined). I graduated from Fuller with a Master of Arts in Theology.
2025-
University of Durham
St. John's College
Department of Theology & Religion
Durham, England, UK
Now I'm enrolled in the Doctor of Theology and Ministry (DThM) program at Durham University. As such, I'm a member of St. John's College and the Department of Theology & Religion. My research focus is Christology & Political Theology. I will be exploring how the political personhood of Jesus Christ informs (or ought to inform) the Church's role in the future and flourishing of Black America and the Pan-African World.
